Radio facts of the day:

On the way to school this morning I was listening to NPR on the radio and they were talking to the author of:

BUY HERE! - WEBSITE HERE!

It was an insightful look into how wasteful the first worlds are, not just America. (I was as surprised as you are.)

More than 40% of food produced is not eaten.

I'm going to read it and give a review. Before I do I'll hit you with something I found interesting from the show.

  • Farmers don't actually farm all their crops
There is something called "Walk By" crops where the farmer will walk by an entire field of crops because he isn't getting enough money for that field. WASTED

Feeding America and Local Harvest are hunger relief charities trying to help feed hunger by offering to farm the crops for them. This way people get to eat and the farmer doesn't lose out.

It's depressing to think of all the people that go hungry and how much food we waste.

To cheer you up here is a fun flash game to pass the time FEED RICE!
By playing you're helping fight hunger....

.....seriously. Click it.
